yes unless all the treatments he has had sterilized him, have him have a sperm count test.
2 :
most likely. erectile disfunction usually doesnt affect sperm production. it also depends if hes taking tablets to counteract ed.
3 :
Yes - but not if he has had chemo/radiation as that kills off the sperm. Before they start treatment they normally offer to freeze sperm so you can conceive with IVF in the future. I wish you luck with everything.

What are signs that you might have colon cancer

What are signs that you might have colon cancer?

Blood in your poop is the biggest red flag.
2 :
Overview of Colon Cancer Symptoms - Constipation - Thin Stool - Stomach Cramps - Bright Red Blood in Your Stool - Unexplained Weight Loss - Sense of Fullness - Nausea and Vomiting - Lethargy The Bottom Line Even though you have an idea of what to look out for, it's important to remember that a tumor can grow for years before causing any colon cancer symptoms. In addition, all of these symptoms are very poor predictors in and of themselves.
3 :
Bleeding - Blood in Stool: This is the most commonly experienced colon cancer symptom. As a tumor grows larger, the passage of feces can cause the tumor to bleed. it is common to see blood if the tumor is near the anus, but it is much more common for the blood to be hidden inside the stools. Weight Loss: An unexpected weight loss accompanied by other symptoms can indicate colon cancer. The pain and discomfort caused by a tumor can lead to loss of appetite, which in turn results in weight loss. Changes in Bowel Habits: If you are consistently constipated or have diarrhea, this must be evaluated by a physician. Changes in bowel habits also include gas and producing thinner stools. Thinner stools are usually the result of a tumor obstructing the passage of feces. This is one of the more common colon cancer symptoms. Abdominal Discomfort: Abdominal discomfort can mean many things - bloating, swelling, cramping and feeling full. Abdominal Pain: Swelling and pain of the abdomen are also symptoms of colon cancer. This usually occurs when the intestine is blocked by a tumor. If the tumor grows large, then nausea and vomiting can occur. Fatigue: Fatigue is a symptom of many cancers. It can also be a symptom of many other conditions that aren't cancer related. Fatigue experienced with cancer can be mild or severe.

I was diagnosed with rectal cancer in March. My symptoms were- 1. a tinge of pink blood in my stool 2. 3 months of my stools being soft That was it. I didn't talk to my GP for 3 months because I thought the blood was from my hemorrhoids and the soft stools because I'm lactose intolerant. I'm all praise for my doctor for him insisting that I go for a colonoscopy. Without a doubt he saved my life. All I needed was surgery to remove the tumour. No chemo no radiation. This is because it was caught early. So if you show any symptoms, get it checked out NOW. PS. I'm still waiting for the sudden unexplained weight loss, darn it. LOL

Hamerrhoids or colon cancer

Hamerrhoids or colon cancer ?
I had a bump in my ass about 5 days ago. It hurt while sitting or going to take S***. There was never any blood, only a red bump on the face of anus. Now, there is no pain and the size of bump has reduced. Is it just hamerrhoids or colon cancer. I am really worried.

1 :
sounds like a hemorrhoid =nothing to worry about ,since the swelling is gone
2 :
Heamerroid. Colon cancer oes not reduce after 5 days and is not visible from the outside. As a test for yourselve. Colon cancer feels almost rock hard (really really hard) whereas a heameroid is as soft as normal skin.
3 :
just hemerrhoids, they hurt don't they, go to your doctor and get some cream for it cause it will return, if you use the cream as soon as the itch starts you should be spared the pain caues it won't get big and sore . if you are worried about it being colon cancer get you doctor to check you out
4 :
If your serious, I suggest you go see a doctor. My father was misdiagnosed with hemroids, but really had colon cancer, and it could have ended fatally. Thankfully they found the tumour in time. But get ti checked out. its better to be safe than sorry,in this case anyways.
5 :
It is best to get yourself checked. While it looks like hemorrhoids, a small bump can sometimes be an indication of something more serious. There is really no way of telling unless you get a proper diagnosis. If you need to read about hemorrhoids or colon cancer, check out this informative site http://www.detox-cleansing.com

My boyfriend had colon cancer at 15. Dr told him he would never have children. He is 44 Is it possible to have?

unless they removed his testicles then theres still always a chance he could father children but radiation treatment dramatically reduces fertility.
2 :
You never know! He needs to get a sperm count. It's the easiest and non invasive. He just has to you-know-what into a cup and rush the sample to the lab, I think within 30 minutes. Make an appointment first, of course.
3 :
If your boyfriend had chemo for his cancer chances are he would not be able to have children.
4 :
Very remotely possible. He needs to consult a urologist, preferably one who specializes in fertility problems. A sperm count could possibly answer your concern. With colon cancer at age fifteen, I would suspect that your BF had familial polyposis. Inheritance patterns vary, but most are dominantly inherited, meaning that some of your children would be similarly affected. You might consider genetic counseling prior to deciding to have children.

My husband has colon cancer and is now taking chemptherapy. I'm worried about him because he drinks liquor

My husband has colon cancer and is now taking chemptherapy. I'm worried about him because he drinks liquor.?
I'm worried about my husband because he is drinking liquor, mainly beer, while undergoing chemotherapy. Almost every weekend he hangs out in bars and drinks to the point that when he comes home I can smell the liquor coming out of his skin. I'm worried that this is affecting his liver. Is it bad to drink while undergoing chemotherapy whether beer or hard liquor .

1 :
Probably drinking that much, yeah. I would go have a drink once a week while doing chemo and radiation and I'm fine.
2 :
Is his oncologist aware of this? If not, he/she should be informed since there is an extremely high risk that the alcohol will interfere with the effectiveness of his treatments. Between the toxins in the chemo and the additional strain from the body processing the alcohol, he could go into acute liver failure or have a fatal reaction. You NEED to tell his doctors!

What are the signs of colon cancer..ie: profuse rectal bleeding

What are the signs of colon cancer..ie: profuse rectal bleeding?
my friend has profuse rectal bleeding. He uses alcohol to the excess. Could this be colon cancer

Regardless of what it is, i would get it checked out if i were your friend. My grandfather died of Colon cancer because he ignored it too long until it was too late. Whatever the reason, rectal reading is usually....(almost always)... Always not good. please urge him to get it checked out.
2 :
He could well have varices, which will also bleed profusely and alcohol exacerbates this condition very much. He needs to have them cortorised to seal the bleed off, abstain from alcohol. I have seen ppl bleed to death from oesophageal varices, rectal ones are just as dangerous due to there being a significant blood supply to the intestines
3 :
Profuse rectal bleeding is a latent sign of colon cancer. Bright red blood at your rectum is more likely from hemmorrhoids. Early signs of colon problems are changes in bowel habits(diarrhea and/or constipation). Pain and nausea or vomiting come next. If your friend has caused an alcoholic hepatitis or pancreatitis this can also irritate the bowel and esophagus enough to cause bleeding. Your friend needs to see a doctor immediately. God forbid it is something serious like colon cancer...caught early enough it is a highly treatable/curable cancer. Good luck..give your friend this advice..waiting is not an option. He may only need counceling on alcohol and nothing more. Good Luck and God Bless.
4 :
It may or many not be cancer. It may be Hemorrhoids also which has a symptom - Painless bleeding during bowel movements — you might notice small amounts of bright red blood on your toilet tissue or in the toilet bowl. so before coming to any conclusion your friend should visit a doctor and have the situation evaluated. However the signs and symptoms of Colon cencer which he should be aware of are given below_ Many people with colon cancer experience no symptoms in the early stages of the disease. When symptoms appear, they'll likely vary, depending on the cancer's size and location in your large intestine. Signs and symptoms of colon cancer include: -A change in your bowel habits, including diarrhea or constipation or a change in the consistency of your stool for more than a couple of weeks -Rectal bleeding or blood in your stool -Persistent abdominal discomfort, such as cramps, gas or pain -Abdominal pain with a bowel movement -A feeling that your bowel doesn't empty completely - -Weakness or fatigue -Unexplained weight loss -Blood in your stool may be a sign of cancer, but it can also indicate other conditions. Bright red blood you notice on bathroom tissue more commonly comes from hemorrhoids or minor tears (fissures) in your anus, for example. In addition, certain foods, such as beets or red licorice, can turn your stools red. Iron supplements and some anti-diarrheal medications may make stools black. Still, it's best to have any sign of blood or change in your stools checked promptly by your doctor because it can be a sign of something more serious. -
5 :
Your friend needs to race to a gastroenderologist if he has profuse rectal bleeding. One possibility is colon cancer but it could also be from some other ailment like hemorrhoids or ulcers of the stomach. The only way to find out what is wrong is to talk to the specialist and get some tests done. I had colon cancer, a large tumor in my transverse colon was found the end of August of this year. I could not see blood in my stool but had an occult (hidden) blood test and it detected blood. I had lost weight suddenly, developed anemia from the blood loss so was very tired too, also had pain ongoing in my abdominal area and eventually even felt the lump of the tumor. I did not experience diarrhea and/or constipation but changes in bowel habits can also be a sign something is wrong. Alcohol in excess could be causing ulcers of his digestive tract and thus bleeding. Sounds like he needs to get the alcohol use under control.
6 :
Please have your friend see a dr. I had colon cancer in October and they removed 12 inches of my large intestines. I had no symptoms or pain. One day I saw blood in my stool (I was on blood thinners for a blood clot) and thought that's what it was. I ended up in the hospital because I was sick from the flu and they did a colonoscopy and found the cancer. Tell your friend to go and get a colonoscopy, they don't hurt, just a pain empyting out the colon. They caught mine before it spread and I was out of the hospital in 2 days. Actually, the surgery was a piece of cake, 4 small holes in my stomach. Please encourge your friend to see a dr

What *exactly* is colon cancer? And are they're any precursor-like symptoms

What *exactly* is colon cancer? And are they're any precursor-like symptoms?
Why do people die from this preventable cancer?
Cancer - 7 Answers

1 :
Well people can die from any cancer. They may not get screened enough as recommended and not catch it early enough.
2 :
Hello Sky Why do they die ???? this one is tough.,it known as the "Silent Killer",because it is exactly that. Most of the time there is not much pain associated with this type of cancer,The main precursor sign is blood in the stool for which they sell some do-it-at home kits(efficacy of those is hummm..shall we say disputable. It is on the other hand very treatable with either chemotherapy or surgery or a combination of the two with amazing results in the upper 90%.The thing is the exam.....the colonoscopy ,most people are refractory to this for a very good reason,it is not a very pleasant one to go through. Also In most people mind no pain=no cancer which is so wrong in this case. You always go on an all out campaign about cancerous foods, smoking, and go to genetic counselling. An exam and catching this before it metastasize or scrap the entire digestive tract.Prevention is the key in this as it is for most diseases

Colon cancer is where there is a malignancy where there is an uncontrollable growth of the cells that line the inside of the colon or rectum. There could be two types of symptoms with colon cancer: Local and Systemic. Local Symptoms are basically your bathroom habits: - changes in bowel movements - constipation - diarrhea - alternating constipation and diarrhea - bright or dark red blood in stools Systemic symptoms are ones that affect the your entire body: - weight loss - loss of appetite - unexplained fatigue - nausea - anemia - jaundice ( yellow color to skin) Like other said before me a lot of people die from this cancer because they might not be getting screen regularly because they may be embarassed or it may have not been caught in time. I think I read a study somewhere where it said that 40% of the cases of the death could have been prevented by regular screening but do not quote me on that for sure
4 :
You have received a couple of sincere answers to a very serious question but as a cancer survivor I must take issue with the phrase "preventable cancer" which seems to insinuate that a victim of cancer was remiss somehow in preventing the disease from striking. I believe "very treatable cancer, if caught early enough" would be a kinder and more apt wording. Best wishes to you.
5 :
Most people on here have giving good answers. Like most cancers, if caught early its very treatable. And even if it has spread, colon cancer responds well to treatments. So in many cases its very beatable. However, as others have said, in some unfortanant cases this cancer can spread to vital organs without the person have symptoms. In those cases often a full recovery can be difficult. Sadly this is one of the few cancers where survival rates are worse with young people then older people. And the main reason why is because its found more at a late state with younger people ( 30s and 40s), since preventitive measures often are not taken. But that being said it is still very rare in people under 45.
6 :
People die from cancer BECAUSE it is not preventable. If it was truly preventable than we would know how to treat it and no one would get cancer . . but we don't. No one even knows exactly what makes one person get cancer while someone else will not. You have been misinformed if you think it is preventable. The only known precursor appears to be age . . cancer is often age specific and the older an individual is the more likely he or she may develop cancer at some point in their life . .no one knows exactly which type though. Colon cancer affects older adults and rarely if ever children or adolescents . . it also rarely affects young adults. With most types of cancer, including colon . . there are no symptoms, no pain, and no indication that anything is wrong until the disease is advanced or interfering with normal body activity . . by that time a patient knows they have cancer. Early stage disease rarely if ever creates any problem in the body as it is too small or grows around structures. and can co-incide quite nicely within the body. Any reported 'symptoms' are vague and non specific enough for most people to ignore or attribute to other ailments. Colon cancer is not preventable.
7 :
There are no precursor symptoms. Sometimes people are lucky to have symptoms before it has progressed too far, but many times they don’t and patients do not have stage 4 disease with no symptoms at all. This cancer cannot be cured without surgery – period and if you need chemo your chances of survival have dropped dramatically. As with many cancers people die because it was not found early enough and as with all cancers it is not preventable.

Are flat or extremely thin stools always a sign of colon/rectal cancer

Are flat or extremely thin stools always a sign of colon/rectal cancer?
Or are there other possibilities? I'm a female age 25 if that matters.

Of course not. There are lots of things it can be.. IBS, anxiety, your diet, hemmerhoids, and of course non-cancerous polups. ect ect. At 25 colon cancer would be extremely rare. If your stools are very thin, and have blood with them, then you should go to your doctor asap.
