no, just constipation. Better get a vacuum cleaner to suck it up
2 :
i have no idea but i wouldn't try it if u gotta go let it go
3 :
why the hell would you want to hold your feces 5 days? you deserve to get sick and affect your colon if wait this long. do you do this? ewwww?
4 :
No way you could hold it for 5 days. Know what happens? You'll start throwing up. It will look like coffee grounds, but in fact it will be your own feces coming out the other way. Cancer is caused by abnormal cell growth. You can certainly cause damage to your colon and polyps (which can become cancerous) by not "evacuating" regularly and eating enough fiber. Besides all those toxins in your body? Ruins everything you have.
5 :
No one "holds it" for five days. That's called constipation. Chronic constipation can give you more immediate problems than colon cancer.
6 :
Yes it would. I heard on the radio some woman who didn't crap for 2 weeks. The doctor said it can be really bad for your colon and gave the woman a 2 week chinese herbal cleanse. Anything bad for your colon over a long period of time will probably increase your chances of developing cancer in the colon. I"m not a doctor, but it's really important to have at least 2 bowel movements a day to keep things moving. I did an herbal cleanse and boy did it make me feel better. All I had to do was take two herbal tablets a day and after a few days it started to clean me out. I also lost about 4 pounds of gunk.
7 :
well technically you can't however this is very bad for your body and ur inner body structures. If you have to wait for 5 days you should just do your business somewhere even if you dont find a toilet
8 :
Give me a break! This question isn't serious, is it? If I hold my pee for five days, will I get cancer in my bladder? If I don't swallow for five days will I get throat cancer? Just go take a dump!
9 :
Lack of fiber in the diet is indeed related to colon cancer. I don't know anyone who purposefully avoids bowel movements though, why would anybody do that???? Anyway, it is important to eat a lot of fiber (fresh fruit and veg) and also drink plenty of water. That, plus regular physical exercise should keep bowels healthy. If there is a serious problem with constipation or a mental illness going on, this should be checked out by the doctor. However, don't try any wacky "cleansing purges" that they are always trying to sell. These are untested and unregulated by the FDA and are not necessary. Frequent constip may also be a sign of IBS or irritable bowel syndrome. It is also associated with a history of sexual abuse. Yes, Im a doc

Just told I had colon cancer

Just told I had colon cancer?
I had a colonoscopy yesterday and was told that I had the very early stage of colon cancer. Haven't gone for follow up yet just wondering how long it takes to get over the resection surgery

I don't know. How are you holding up? Congratulations on it being caught EARLY stage which is the best IF you HAVE to have cancer. sounds like you are going to do great just on that alone. I don't have your answer, but I just wanted to say, hang in there, and all the best, get well soon.
2 :
sadly theres no recovery. colon cancer is usually very fatal. like on a scale of 1-10 its and 11. you should probably go and impregnate like 4 women because if you don't your family tree is going to wither away.... not unlike how you will wither away. have fun!
3 :
First let me give you my empathy. Second, (of course you know this) your recovery will depend entirely on you. That is, on your current health, age, etc, AND on your mental attitude. So, call on all your inner strength, faith & higher power (whatever/whoever yours may be) and know that this kind of cancer has a very high survival rate. So, be take heart. Also, you might find support among friends, family & groups of people in the same boat, on line or in person to be a great source of comfort. Good Luck to you.
4 :
good for you for finding out early. i had an aunt who died of colon cancer. she didn't find out she had it until it was too late. she kept going to get checked cause she knew she was sick and they kept sending her home with constipation medicines. fucked huh? just good luck and they say that your type of cancer is one of the most curable kinds of cancer if caught early.
5 :
Recovery is about 6-8 weeks, similar to a C-section as the abdominal wall is cut in both surgeries. The hospital stay is usually about 4 days, by that time your bowel habits should be back to normal and you should be able to tolerate a normal diet.

Colon cancer at your teen years

Colon cancer at your teen years?
is it possible to have colon cancer when you are a teenager? or is it only for older adults? My brother (14 years old) have confessed to me that he bleeds when he poops, i checked online and what came out was colon cancer...is it possible for him to have it? (by the way, there isn't family members known who have colon cancer)

It's probably an anal fissure. Drink more water, eat more veggies-- soften the goods!
2 :
YOU NEVER KNOW> Get your mom to take him to the doc. Could be polyps. Which given time, can turn cancerous. I knew a womangirl) who had colon cancer at 23. She died at 31. Get your bro to a doc, if for nothing else, peace of mind.
3 :
I seriously doubt that it is colon cancer. It sounds like a case of internal hemorrhoids but only a doctor can diagnose. The best way to control the symptoms is to make sure your brother is getting enough fiber in his diet to soften the poop and avoid straining: veggies, fruit, whole grain bread. Good luck at the doc's office.

Not pooping regularly, colon cancer

Not pooping regularly, colon cancer?
I poop every 4 days maybe. Could this be colon cancer? What can I eat or take to make me poop regularly? Thnks.

It is probably just poor diet/constipation. Try starting by cleaning your colon with a laxative and having a liquid diet(water, tea, jello, etc) for a day. At that point, begin having a stool softener 1-2 times each day and eating a high fiber diet. You need about 25grams of fiber in your diet each day. Count your fiber and anything that you do not get in food, make sure you take as a supplement. Fiber is naturally found in fruits, veggies, whole grain foods).

6 :

Colon cancer- alternate exit for excretion

Colon cancer- alternate exit for excretion?
After colon cancer patients go through surgery, the doctor makes an alternate exit (instead of the anus, since it is cut off) on the side of the body, for excretion. What do you call the NOZZLE/CAP for the extra hole, in medical terms?
Cancer - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
The "hole" is called a stoma. Not sure what you mean by nozzle/cap.
2 :
The hole is called a stoma. It also can be called a colonostomy.
3 :
A tiny surface opening or pore. It may occur naturally or be the result of a surgical incision, as in a colostomy, or as the result of an abscess. STOMA is the Greek word for “mouth.” A colostomy is to treat various disorders of the large intestine, including cancer, obstruction, inflammatory bowel disease, ruptured diverticulum, ischemia (compromised blood supply), or traumatic injury. Temporary colostomies are created to divert stool from injured or diseased portions of the large intestine, allowing rest and healing. Permanent colostomies are performed when the distal bowel (at the farthest distance) must be removed or is blocked and inoperable. Although colorectal cancer is the most common indication for a permanent colostomy, only about 10–15% of patients with this diagnosis require a colostomy. Ostomy is a surgical procedure used to create an opening for feces to be released from the body. Colostomy refers to a surgical procedure where a portion of the large intestine is brought through the abdominal wall to carry stool out of the body. The feces are collected in a disposable colostomy bag as they come out of the intestine. There is no separate Nozzle or cap used for this purpose -
4 :
My Stoma is placed to the left of my belly button and down a little bit. I still find it amazing that this glistening red rosebud like object on my stomach is actually the inside of my intestine! Some may find this gross, but I find it facinating. Without it I would have died. I use a colostomy bag to collect the output. With each bag I need to cut a circular hole at the back so it will fit around my Stoma. I then peel off the backing to expose the sticky surface then stick the bag to my tummy. Some people irrigate their colostomies. Which means that they give themselves an enema through their Stoma. By irrigating they can gain control over the output of their Colostomies. They irrigate through a nozzle connected to an enema bag, they then use a Stoma Cap to cover or plug up their Stoma so any stray output won't mess up their clothes. To anyone reading this who is terrified at the propect of having to have a Colostomy, let me tell you that it truely isn't the worst thing in the world. I am in my early 40's and will have another 40 yrs of living with a colostomy. (without it I would have had only a couple of years at the most) It just means that you go to the toilet a different way, that's all.

5 :
The heart develops collateral circulation as you get older which is why a 70 year old survives a heart attack better than a 42 year old. a CABG is a procedure designed to improbe coronary circlation and improve survivability. Colon Cancer can kill relativly quickly or be surgical removed without a trace.....everyones best chance for survival is frequent exams.
