Can a CT scan detect colon cancer

Can a CT scan detect colon cancer?
I've been having bad lower abdominal problems along with blood, etc. They said my CT came back ok. Does that mean I can rule out cancer?

they should be doing a colonoscopy to rule that out.
2 :
No you should do colonoscopy
3 :
A CT scan can detect tumours (growths) in the body if they are large enough. Not all tumours are cancer. So a CT scan can identify a tumour, but not whether it is cancer or not. A biopsy would be needed if anything was found in the CT scan. Early colon cancer tumours are often not identifiable by CT scan. There is a non-invasive test called a virtual colonoscopy. But it is not as effective (yet) at detecting colon cancer as the traditional colonoscopy. If you are worried about cancer, talk to the doctor managing your tests and get his/her view on why they are not testing for it or whether it is a planned test if the more likely causes of your problems are ruled out.

Can I get rid of colon cancer

Can I get rid of colon cancer?
What colon cleanse product should I opt to get rid of colon cancer?

1 :
Colon cleanser is an ailment, which arises due to accumulation of toxins and parasites in lower part of colon. It blocks the working of digestion process in the body and leads to improper release of energy in the body, which is the main function of colon. Colon cancer is a supposed to be deadly disease, as many people have died in United States in last 2-3 months due to colon cancer. Root cause of colon cancer is ineffective digestive system. The best way to cure colon cancer or eliminating the chance of colon cancer is to cleanse your colon on daily basis as pollutants, in the form of toxins, enter the body on regular basis and get accumulated in the path of digestive system, making it ineffective. The main purpose of colon cleansing is to remove the toxins in a conservative manner, which is accumulated in the lower part of colon. Cleansing should be done in a proper manner otherwise it will lead to certain sideffects, which can make the situation bad to worst. What I can recommend is to opt for acai berry colon cleanser which is a natural product and do not have any kind of side effect.
2 :
There is no colon cleanse product that you can buy to treat colon cancer. You need medical treatment. In some cases the cancer can just be cut out and you don't need further treatment (that was my friend's experience). It is foolish to try to cure this deadly disease yourself!
3 :
yes you can have part of your colon removed safely and eating the best diet ever we are what we eat think natural.eat foods that the body could digest easy.
4 :
That first answer up there is a ridiculous (and very dangerous) bunch of garbage. You are not going to cure colon cancer by cleansing your colon. You will need to have the tumor excised. Colon cancer (vs other internal cancers) actually has a very good cure rate. Exactly what that cure rate is depends, of course, on the exact kind of tumor, its location, and its stage at diagnosis. Even when they are metastatic to the liver, colon cancers can often be cured with surgery and chemo.
5 :
I totally agree with "Static" There isn't any cleanser in the world that will cure colon cancer...AND making yourself have a bowel movement because of the cleaners is NOT a good idea either. It goes against the natural working mechanisms of the colon. If a person takes a laxative each and every day, before too long, the colon will be so confused, it won't know what to do properly. You could also make the situation worse by doing this. If the cancer can be arrested by chemo therapy and/or surgery, that's the best route to go. Listen to your Dr., not the Dr.s here who have an 'internet license'.
6 :
I had stage 1 colon cancer and had no symptoms at all. They took out 12 inches of my colon and sent it to pathology where I was lucky that it had not spread to the lymph nodes, and a ct scan revealed it didn't spread to other organs either. If there was a colon cleanser for cancer, that person who comes up with it would be extremely rich. Myself, I had had that sucker removed....,..

Effectiveness of Xeloda and Avastin combo as a primary treatment for colon cancer that has spread to liver

Effectiveness of Xeloda and Avastin combo as a primary treatment for colon cancer that has spread to liver?
Xeloda tablets are taken twice daily and Avastin 2xmonth intervenous. How effective is this as a primary treatment for colon cancer that has matastized to the liver. The cancer is inoperable and also harsher chem/radiation regimens are not possible due to poor health and severe renal problems. The cancer was operated on some time back so it is not present in the colon. Just the liver. Thanks for helping

We don't know yet, hopefully it will be effective on my brother-in-law who just had the colon surgery when they found the lesions on his liver. I believe the combo is what his doctor recommended as well.

See site below under cancer. Fruits and vegetables prevent cancer. It has the link to the study done that shows that meat causes colon cancer. All plant foods have fiber, even watermelon. Meat has no fiber.
2 :
I drink Soy shakes, and fresh fruits and veggies. I had another type of Cancer, but I have read Cancer nooks and they said Green tea, Red Grapes, Vit C , Soy, and so fourth works well, also staying away from preservatives, and sugar. I have heard Juicers work pretty good. I still have the effects of Radiation though. I do try and eat a healthy diet. You can try a Nutrionist in the Oncology Dept, or a book that deals with Colon Cancer, or contact the Cancer Research Institute. It's hard I know.
3 :
Risk factors potentially include reduced vegetables, fiber, & starch, and increased consumption of red meat and animal fat. Notice that red meat doesn't *cause* colon cancer, increased consumption is associated with increased risk of colon cancer. You can drive yourself crazy with all of the information out there, most of it bad (particularly when you poke around some of these health food sites. Most of these are "Reader beware."). If you are one to just trust anyone and anything, have at it,. However little to none of it is supported by any science. Hey, I believe in God, so I don't need a scientific study for everything; by the same token everything except God follows the laws of the universe, so if something works, then a properly done study should be able to demonstrate that. And unfortunately, there just are too few good studies regarding diet and cancer. Your best bet would be to count on the "moderation diet" in regards to those things that we all know are not good in excess, like fats, sweets, red meat, alcohol; eat more fruits and vegetables; exercise regularly; don't smoke; avoid excess sun exposure. These are things we know help

I don't take the drugs, but I administer them almost every day. I'm a medical oncology (chemotherapy) nurse. If have have general and/or specific quetsions, I'd be happy to answer them. I log on here frequently and will keep an eye out for your posts. In the meantime, if you're looking for some basic information, here are a couple of web links that provide some solid (accurate) information for patients. Can a colonoscopy carry the HVP infection towards the colon and be the cause of developing colon cancer

Can a colonoscopy carry the HVP infection towards the colon and be the cause of developing colon cancer?

NO. The premise is simply absurd.
2 :
No one knows the cause of cancer. Anal/rectal cancers are often associated with HPV, but it is not associated with cancers further up the colon.

I'm 37 male. What are the early signs of prostate and colon cancer? What are the main causes

I'm 37 male. What are the early signs of prostate and colon cancer? What are the main causes? ?
How and what should I do to prevent both of these illnesses.
Cancer - 1 Answers

The most common early sign of prostate cancer is suddenly needing to urinate more frequently than normal (this can also be a symptom of urinary tract and other infections) particularly, stopping urination but feeling that you haven't emptied your bladder. The commonest early sign of bowel/colon cancer is an alternation between diarrhea and constipation, other common early symptoms include abdominal pain, blood in stools and sudden weight loss. Neither disease can be completely prevented but it's thought that an active sex/ejaculation life may reduce concentrations of carcinogens in the prostate gland. Chances of developing bowel/colon cancer are shown to be reduced by including plenty of fibre (bran, wholegrain bread etc), fruit and vegetables in the diet, the recommended daily intake is 5 portions of fruit or vegetables a day.

I dont think it run in the family? can it be that i dont drink alot of water?

Look I am not a Dr. but I would try drinking some fiber and see about a stool softener before I would freak out and say I had cancer. You are most likely constipated. If not then you might want to see the doctor about it.Hope the fiber works, Peace
2 :
It's wildly unlikely that you have cancer. It's quite likely that you just have a bit of garden-variety constipation. I recommend drinking more water, eating more fruits and vegetables, and taking at least a twenty-minute walk after dinner each evening.
3 :
I don!t think you have a colon cancer,You have a colon spasm which is holding gas, condition is known as hurried bowel syndrome.Take more fruits & vegetables in diet, plenty of water orally.learn to relax.Admiral V K Singh
