Does hypermetabolic activity in the colon imply cancer?
Patient has Non-Hodgkins lymphoma and a recent PET scan showed the lymphoma had been successfully treated by Rituxin. Two areas of hyper metabolic activity were noted on the report in the colon and at the seigmiorectal junction. The measurements were 5SUV and 5.25 SUV.

If you have this much information you probably have the report and if the radiologist thought it was cancer they would say so. There are no SUV cut offs for malignancy and determining if something is malignant or not is not based on a single aspect of a test.
