Question about colon cancer

Question about colon cancer. .?
So i have been constipated for about two weeks now, and about a month ago i had a bad case of diarrhea. Throughout these two weeks i have been getting these symptoms: clear mucus out of my rectum, pain in my stomach(usually with bowel movement), and hard small stools. When i started using laxatives my stool started coming not as wide as before. i know i should probably see a doctor for this question, but im thinking it is just constipation, and i should simply just change my diet. my question is, is it possible i have colon cancer?

Unlikely. Probably diet.

anything is possible but it sounds like constipation. drink more water, eat more fiber, exercise, take stool softeners (not a laxative yet, unless you havent had any bowel movements at all) and if it doesnt get better in a week, see a doc.

Hello there, I had the same symptoms as you, only there was blood in the stools on occasion. I was embarrased to have the scope done so I put it off for about 2 years. I have now been battling cancer for about eight years. I went into the doctor about a completely unrelated complaint and she took one look at me and said I was annemic, and where could the problem be. I said that I do see blood in my stools at times and thought it was hemmoroids. She booked a specialist for me to see and he only did a rectal prob, but knew by my symptoms that it was cancer. He booked the scope and found a large tumor in the colon, about 7" up. I had what they called a sigmoid resection, removal of about 10 inches of the colon and stapled up again. I had to have six months of chemotherapy. It made me very weak, but I kept most of my hair. I couldn't do anything strenuous at all, not even go for walks. After almost a year I returned to work and everything was fine I thought, for about six years. I had routine blood tests and tumor markers every six months. I thought I was in the clear until I went into the doctor with a pain in my lower stomach. He sent me for an ultrasound and it came back clear. He wasn't satisfied with that and sent me for a catscan. There it was, a tumor on my adrenal gland and on my uretor. These tumors should have shown up on the tumor marker tests, but they are useless. I started chemo the next month, and stayed on it for about eight months. The tumors responded well and began to shrink. Good News! They gave me a break from the chemo from July 07 to Jan 08 and the next set of catscans were not good. Cancer came back to the original places as well as stomach, liver and lungs. Bad News ! Back on chemo, loss of all hair, till July 08. A two month break, and now I'm on a new kind. Its not too bad, my hair is growing, and I have a pretty good life. My biggest problem is that about two years ago, my legs and feet started to swell and they are huge. I can't wear proper shoes and my clothes don't fit. If this chemo doesn't work the next one won't be covered by the province of BC. Possibly extended health will cover half, but I don't have $3000 a month . So thats it, I live life as well as I can and I;m having some fun. Colon cancer is completely cureable if you catch it early, and all it takes is a little camera up the butt. You can do it, its painless. Good luck

As they say, anything is possible. Since this has been going on for a long time you've really got to get yourself to the doctor's ASAP.

Stage I colon cancer and surgery

Stage I colon cancer and surgery.....?
After being diagnose with stage I of colon cancer (which is basically having a tumor in your colon), how long does it take before the doctor schedules a surgery date to get it/them removed from you colon? 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 4 weeks, 5 weeks, ect.?
Cancer - 2 Answers

1 :
Not long. Two weeks M A X ! ! Early stage Colon Cancer can be successfully treated when caught and treated early. It's up to your doctor - he knows how quickly you need to have it removed (or treated). But he shouldn't wait long. If he does - get a second/third opinion.
2 :
If he has already been told the stage chances are he doesn’t need surgery. The polypectomy done during the colonoscopy would have been the surgery. If they could not get clear margins on the polypectomy and it was clinically staged the timing of the surgery is not significant I’ve seen people who waited 6-8 months and a few who did not return for years, but they should have it done as soon as convenient.

Hello, hun. I understand your question completely. My mom is 44, and she was diagnosed with colon cancer about a month ago. She had a colonoscopy, and the doctor found a polyp. They sugically removed it by laproscopy, and they took out around 8 inches of her colon. The doctor said it will take 6-8 weeks to heal, and it is already healing well. Her's did not spread too much, and she only has to do chemo for preventative reasons. I guess she was lucky though. Your uncle's cancer must have spread a lot (to his lymph nodes, etc.). I know it is caused by poor eating habits and diverticulitis. (sp?) Good luck, and God bless! I feel for you.

SHE Has stage3 colon cancer

SHE Has stage3 colon cancer?
A dear person to me ,so special , has stage 3 colon cancer This was caused due to cancer in ovarian and art , some doc say it is stage 3 while other say it is 4 , Any way the doc told us after the surgery she made the chemo 's sucess will be about 70 to 80 percent which is a very good percentage . beside the ovariens and art removal They removed part of the colon and removed the ass opening ( i really don ;t know its name ) , she is making kaka in a box sketched in her stomac , the doc promised her after chemo they will return to her that opening as well . I heard chemo is fatal , specially she has kidney prbs as well I heard someone cured his troat cancer with Ozone and amygdaline treatments I don 't Know wether it is true or not she did about 2 sessions and 2omorw her 3rd ones , But from session 2 she begin to loose appetit , and she is having headache , also the doctor delayed her chemotherapy a week because her blood cells dropped so Much, and their kidney functions dropped also because of the chemo carbo platine as i remmber the name ... Anyone has ever tried such things for their colon cancer stage 3 or 4 & Succedded to cure cancer without chemo ? What are this alternatives medecines that can give her a good result ??? Also she doesn't eat since he has an appetit loss , how can i encourage her to eat? or it is something out of her control ... what type of food can boost her immune system and let her fight cancer as well ? and what other tips if possible .. Im scared since she is losing weight and im worried about everything .... by the way she doesn 't know she has cancer because she is so emotional and a worried person best regard ..,

i don't know the answer to your question but i would like to wish you and your loved ones the best of luck! it sucks to have a person you love that is hurting =[
2 :
There are many non-surgical and non-chemo ways to cancer treatment. In fact at least 16 of them are practiced by holistic clinics and hospitals worldwide (not practiced by those in conventional medicine). I'll list a few that can help cancer of colon (or anywhere else in the body!) 1. Probiotics and prebiotics "resets" colon's normal flora of good germs 2. Google for Protocel - works in babies and children with cancer too 3. Cesium High pH Therapy (some ppl who can't afford Cesium use baking powder to reset body's alkalinity to 7.4 - where no cancer cells can survive nor multiply) Also good to consider a herbalist who may suggest nourishing herbs for her. GOOD LUCK!!!
3 :
It is very difficult to understand you. What part of the body is “art”? Ovaries do not cause colon cancer. Are you saying she has ovarian cancer that spread to the colon? If this is the case, she has stage 4 ovarian cancer and it is not curable. Having chemo is not fatal cancer is fatal. You are going to have to speak to the doctor as what little I do understand makes no sense. No doctor is going to keep a patient’s diagnosis from them it doesn’t matter how emotional they are. And I can’t see how anyone could undergo surgery and chemo and not know they have cancer.
4 :
this is what i told another person but you have to believe that shes a fighter and she will pull though and try to think positive and even though your hurting you must think about how much she wants to pull though try smiling when your near her so she doesn't fell sad
5 :
I also have stage 3 colon cancer. The chemo is only fatal in very rare cases. What she is probably on is called FOLFOX (5FU, Oxalyplatin and Leucovorin). 5FU has been in use since the 1950's and is considered very successful. Leucovorin is a vitamin which helps it work. Oxalyplatin is another chemo which works on the colon cancer. Loss of appetite and headaches are common--she is probably also having pain in her hands if she handles cold things (from the Oxalyplatin), and mouth sores. I'm not surprised she's having chemo delayed. My aunt who had breast cancer had hers delayed each treatment. I've been lucky so far--I just finished my 9th treatment, and no delays yet. She needs to stay wrapped up and keep from getting chilled. Also, Vitamin C and zinc will keep her white blood cell count up. For her red blood cell count (to prevent anemia), she needs to eat red meat. If she's already had surgery, her survival rate is 60% without chemo. The chemo adds about 30%, so her doctor is telling her the same thing my oncologist is telling me (he's one of the hot dogs at the Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis). The "box" you're talking about is a colonostomy bag. The doctors use them as rarely as possible, and they usually do reverse them as quickly as possible. She may have appetite loss because some things do taste strange, like a metallic taste, due to the chemo. Try different foods to see if there are any that are OK. I found that fruits and vegetables are less likely to leave an aftertaste. Mouth sores can be helped with a salt water rinse, or the doctor can give her a special mouth rinse that she should use as soon as they appear

Can you explain the relationship between roughage, cancer of the colon and cholesterol please?
Thanks!

Roughage (fiber), reduces cholesterol and thereby reduces one of the things that encourages colon cancer. By reducing cholesterol, it naturally is helpful in preventing heart disease also. The old "win/win".

We have just had a health scare, my wife was passing blood in the toilet so we straight to the doc who she could feel a mass in her abdomen. Naturally we freaked and had her dead and buried on the spot. She had to have a colonoscopy (flexible scope with a camera up the bottom) turns out she had diverticulitis, a bacterial inflamation of the bowel which is treated with antibiotics. WHEW. The prep for the procedure sucks as you can imagine. If there is a family history of bowel problems go forth to the doctor even if its just for peace of mind

Will colon cancer or rectal cancer cause your legs to hurt all the way to your calves

Will colon cancer or rectal cancer cause your legs to hurt all the way to your calves?

Don't know but, blocked arteries can cause legs to hurt. You need to see a doctor, people here can't solve medical problems!
2 :
No. The above symptoms are not part of the signs and symptoms of colon or rectal cancer unless maybe if you already have metastasis (spreading) of the colon or rectal cancer to other parts of the body like bone but I have not heard of bone metastasis from colon cancer yet.
3 :
I have stage IV colon cancer and I have not heard of this symptom as a result of the cancer. I have had my legs hurt after my chemo treatments though. Wendy www.wendysbattle.com

Colon cancer stage four

Colon cancer stage four?
my mom is 48 yrs old she found out she had stage for colon cancer in feb. she had surgery and got the tumor out of her colon but they said it had spread to her lyph nods and her liver and i think her kidknees. i need to know what her chancees are and what i can do to help

1 :
stage four is the last stage, and the worse. im not a doctor or anything, but ive seen my best friends mom die of cancer, and its hard to make a comeback from cancer in stage four.
2 :
Multi-Grain Bread or Whole Grain Bread and it's crust six times a day (six or more pieces of bread with crust still attached to it per day-Bread Crust can help in preventing digestive cancers, basically), Buckwheat (necessary), Liver (or other things, eel, etc.), Beets (necessary), Carrots (must have these), Yogurt (must have this), Citrus Fruits (must have these, along with cherries, kiwi, and bananas), green vegetables (spinach, dark, green leafy vegetables), Dates, otherwise known as Jujube's (they're red and shrunken looking. You have to cook them for 10 minutes before you can eat them), Nuts (almonds, walnuts, the works, all kinds), Shittake Mushrooms (lots per day, even if she doesn't like them. She should get them into her body somehow, must have everyday), Red Grapes (should eat everyday), Green Tea (should sip everyday) or Ginseng Tea (optional, although, I heard it kills cancer. I don't know about it, though), Protein, Protein, Protein, and SOYMILK, A VERY GOOD AMOUNT PER DAY, Shark Pills or Shark meat (hey, she doesn't have much to live on, it's better to try it, then, to never have tried it and never have gotten its benefits-the reason why I say this is it has a lot of mercury in it, but hey, Sharks-fins, I believe-repel cancer. She should try eating Shark to see if it'll work for her, or take Shark Pills-they are supposed to repel AIDS and CANCER, but still wear a condom, if you are going to try this, because as much as sharks can repel disease, humans may not be able to just by eating the shark, AND THEN AGAIN, MAYBE THEY CAN. JUST BE CAREFUL, THOUGH)!
3 :
I’m very sorry, but stage 4 colon cancer is not curable. Treatment will be to prolong her life as long as possible. She should have had a consult with an oncologist who would explain everything to her and what options she has.

Can Cannabis oil really cure colon cancer

Can Cannabis oil really cure colon cancer?

Cancer - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
no
2 :
The evidence is inconclusive. There is a body of evidence which shows that cannabis oil cures some cancers; and it certainly relieves the nausea which goes with cancer treatments such as radiation and chemotherapy, as well as alleviating cluster headaches (a particularly vicious and disabling form of migraine headache).
3 :
I mean, if you keep drinking diet cherry vanilla coke and breathing the fumes from the cement factory down the street and the coal plant up the street and you keep going to the golf course to get your regular dose of organophosphates, then there is nothing in this world that could possibly cure your cancer... Hemp oil is a great oil with a great source of Omega-3's and it will cure cancer if used in the right ratio with other raw, unheated, minimally processed oils. But, like I said, just taking the oil is only part of the solution. As I understand it, Hemp oil is beneficial because it contains Omega-3's. I am unsure if there are any other added benefits to using hemp oil. You should read Udo Erasmus' book "Fats that heal, fats the kill." That should give you some insight on the use and processing of oils; their importance and their role in healing disease. ...did you know that conventionally processed oils are first submerged in Hexane (gasoline) in order to dissolve the shell of the seed?? Or that hydrogenated oils are oils that were reacted with cadmuim, nickel or aluminum??? Of course, it is washed out. But let me ask you this, would you use a safety pin after it fell in an unflushed toilet just because it was 'washed' out??? The fact is that you are consuming an unnecessary amount of cancer-causing hexane in your oils when there are simply better more reasonable options. So more importantly, I would like to know what chemicals were used on this cannabis oil and how it was processed before I used it to solve any of my health concerns.

With colon and prostate cancer being on the rise in men,how important are they in the body

With colon and prostate cancer being on the rise in men,how important are they in the body?
As far as what their functions are.No plans on having them removed...
Cancer - 5 Answers

1 :
As far as having them removed? You can't live without at least part of your colon and taking out your prostate will cause problems getting an erection.
2 :
Very important. Even if you could remove the organs the patient would still be susceptible to cancer! It would just go to another organ !
3 :
Prostate has no much functional importance. Can be removed in later stage of life. But colon is one of the important route for defecation. If removed patient will have some hardship. But no problem with normal living.
4 :
colon is storage house for feces..and prostate is for semen one can live without these two organs.. obviously there r bad effects on the body but he can survive,,,,
5 :
Hello, The main problem isn't where a primary cancer is found to be. The problem is metastasis. The cancer cells spread to other organs/tissues in the body. Colon cancer kills not by necessitating a bowel resection. It kills by spreading to all other organs in the GI tract. The organs of your GI tract all share a rich exchange of blood flow. That's how those organs function. It's similar w/the prostate. You don't need a prostate to live. Once prostatic ca turns metastatic, though. Bad news. Changes in life styles, & diets not withstanding, men don't like to be physically checked for either of these cancers. The scope feels like it's 22 feet long, & I don't like someone's finger crammed up my rectum. These reasons are why many men die from these cancers.
