Not long. Two weeks M A X ! ! Early stage Colon Cancer can be successfully treated when caught and treated early. It's up to your doctor - he knows how quickly you need to have it removed (or treated). But he shouldn't wait long. If he does - get a second/third opinion.

If he has already been told the stage chances are he doesn̢۪t need surgery. The polypectomy done during the colonoscopy would have been the surgery. If they could not get clear margins on the polypectomy and it was clinically staged the timing of the surgery is not significant I̢۪ve seen people who waited 6-8 months and a few who did not return for years, but they should have it done as soon as convenient.
