Do I have sign of colon cancer

Do I have sign of colon cancer?
Well I'm only 13 but my family has a history of colon cancer and the last BM I had kind of scared me. Its only happened once so far but after I wiped there was a ton of bright red blood. I was wondering if this was a sign of anything related to colon cancer?

If it's bright red, it's near the end and is likely a hemorrhoid or a small tear.

Don't panic. It could be as simple as hemorrhoids. There are a number of conditions that have bright blood as a symptom, such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease. You should definitely tell your mom or dad or both. They will know what to do. Just don't panic yet. If you strain a lot when having bowel movements or are constipated it's most likely a hemorrhoid. Hope this helps. But please talk to your parents.

Colorectal cancer in its early stages usually doesn't cause any symptoms. Symptoms occur later, when the cancer may be more difficult to treat. The most common symptoms include: * Pain in the belly. * Blood in your stool or very dark stools. * A change in your bowel habits (such as more frequent stools or a feeling that your bowels are not emptying completely). * Fatigue. * In rare cases, unexplained weight loss. Colon cancer may cause no symptoms. When there are symptoms, they may depend on where in the colon the cancer is.2 * The cecum and ascending colon, the first and second parts of the colon, are on the right side of your abdomen. Cancer in this area may bleed, causing blood in the stool and symptoms of anemia, including fatigue and weakness. The amount of blood may be small and so well mixed with stool that your stool may look normal. Sometimes cancer in this area does not cause many symptoms. * The transverse colon, the third part, goes across your body from right to left. Cancer here may cause abdominal cramps. * The descending colon, the fourth part, and the S-shaped sigmoid colon, the fifth part, are on the left side of your abdomen and join the rectum. Cancer here may cause narrower stools and bright red blood in the stool. Sometimes this blood is mistakenly thought to come from hemorrhoids. Having these symptoms does not mean you have cancer. A number of other medical problems could cause similar symptoms, including: * Irritable bowel syndrome, a common digestive problem that causes periods of stomach pain, cramping or bloating, and diarrhea or constipation. * Other growths (polyps) in the large intestine that are not cancer. * Diverticulitis, a condition in which pouches form in the wall of the colon and become painful, swollen, or infected. * Infections that cause diarrhea, such as salmonella. * Inflammatory bowel disease, such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, which cause swelling and sores in the intestines. * Bleeding hemorrhoids. * Ulcers of the rectum.

This is one symptom of colon cancer, but it is not likely if it is the only symptom and certainly not at your age. Unless your family members who had colon cancer were either your parents or a sibling in their 30s or younger when diagnosed it is not likely for it to be hereditary. You may be at a higher risk for it when you get older though. From 2001-2005 0.1% of all colon cancers occurred in people under 20 years of age. Rectal bleeding at your age is not good and is a sign of a poor diet. Get more fiber, drink plenty of water and tell your parents. It is very unlikely to be serious, but it is a warning sign to make some changes.

if you had to strain pretty hard to go, and it hurt coming out, you most likely tore your anal canal a little bit. that would cause the bleeding. If you stay constipated, drink a lot of water, and see if there's a laxative for kids. Water goes directly to the colon, which helps keep your bowels moving smoothly, but sometimes constipation can be a side effect of another medication. I doubt you have cancer, dear, you are too young.
