Okay, my father had genetic colon cancer, and had two tumors, but last year he got his entire colon removed, and they said they caught it really early. He just finished chemo, but he has a pet scan tomorrow and I'm really nervous about it. Do you think he has a better chance of not getting it anywhere else? He has stage 3. And like I said, they caught it early and his entire colon is gone so the cancer is gone. Does he have a better chance of it NOT coming back?

What type of genetic colon cancer? (there are mainly two types - Lynch Syndrome and Familial adenomatous poliposis). Both syndromes are mainly related to colon cancer, but due to the genetic origin of the disease, tumours can occur at other sites. However, the main site is the colon, and as he had it removed, no tumor will form there. Now, if he has genetic colon cancer, it means it's hereditary and you have a 50% probability of getting it. You should get tested. Feel free to e-mail if you have more questions.
