Nothing to worry about, if they find something, maybe.

It's colonoscopy. Colonostomy is where they surgically open a hole to your colon and put a bag there. So, a colonoscopy is where they take the light and look at your colon through your.... ya know. But, don't worry about anything. You'll come out just fine! It's not a big deal to have one done.

The colonoscopy is nothing to fear, it will be performed by a surgeon, who will first sedate you somewhat to reduce discomfort. They will have you lie on your side and insert a lighted scope which they can instantly view to determine if your have any pollups or other areas of concern. If you do have pollups they are removed at this time and then sent to a lab for biopsy. The result are usually back in 7-10 days. The procedure itself has no lasting effects other than you may be a bit gassy for a day.

I'm assuming you meant colonoscopy. I haven't been through this but I have done this to many patients. Colonoscopy is God's gift to diagnosis of colon cancer. A tube with a camera will be inserted and you will be able to see the insides of your intestines in the monitor. They can get a biopsy by making a pinch from the scope and you will not feel it. One of the risks include perforation in the intestines, sometimes when they biopsy accidents happen when the intestines wall may get a tiny wee hole that can cause air to go into your system, thats why it is done by a highly skilled endoscopist. Other than that, the benefits outweigh the risk if you are highly suspected of cancer. It will not cause problems for you later in life, it's a simple procedure done only by experts. Your bowels will have to be cleansed by various ways such as enemas, castor oil etc, depends on your doc a day before the procedure. Please do not worry about the procedure, it is safe, a little bit uncomfy but they can give anesthesia so that you wont feel the scope going in. For now, eat high fiber foods. Hope it helps.
