Hey! Yes most definetly. I am a stage four colon cancer survivior. I was only 30 when I found out. I am getting ready to turn 32 and I am currently off chemo. I believe in Jesus, and I pray and cry out to Him when I get depressed. I get that way alot it seems. it Is alot to deal with. If you have any other questions... email me...

Depression is common with any type of cancer. I am a breast cancer survivor (coming up on 6 years since I was diagnosed). I frequently went to bed very early to hide my depression from my husband and sons. I didn't want to over burden them with my illness as well as depression. Part of the depression stems from having to give up control of your life for a short period of time while you undergo treatment and not knowing how your body will respond. Just take it one day at a time, try not to dwell too much on the unknown and do something fun everday (watch a silly movie or anything that makes you laugh). My sister, who was a great support to me (she is also a cancer survivor) recommended keeping a journal, you can rant and rave all you want on paper and someday you will look back and the journal and say think Wow, I kicked Cancer's Butt. My dad was diagnosed with colon cancer about 9 years ago and he kicked it's butt too. He is now 82 years old.

I am so sorry for that diagnosis. Of course, everyone feels depressed when they get any type of bad news. I hope you have discussed with your doctor your options, treatments. etc. Let us know! And new treatments are always on the horizon so you never know. I am a retired x-ray tech and saw many people treated with new treatments. Take care and keep us posted on how you are doing.
