Colon Cancer Stage IIIC/Double Lung Transplant

Colon Cancer Stage IIIC/Double Lung Transplant?
Hi, My mom was has Cystic Fibrosis, and received a double lung transplant in 2007. She started complaining about weird symptoms starting back in April of 2009 and we called multiple doctors, and talked to her transplant team. All year she had fevers of 102-103.7, her bowel movements changed to constant diarrhea, and had a strong scent of rust which we reported to doctors over and over again. Her transplant coordinator actually made a response of " Oh that's weird." && never ordered any blood work or any tests to be done. Finally about two months ago we were sick and tired of her suffering so we raced her down to the ER and demanded tests to be done. They found a large mass, two inches, through a CTscan in her colon. They performed a colonoscopy, discovered it was cancer and proceeded with surgery and removed two feet of her colon. We finally got her results back and they said its stage 3c colon cancer and we're seeing an oncologist this week. She is EXTREMELY immune supressed from her meds from the transplant and I would like to know what the average survival rates are for someone like her. What I would also like to know is why in the world wasnt this caught EARLIER. I've heard that colon cancer actually takes a long time to form. we reported these symptoms how long ago and they laughed them off. I personally think its medical malpractice. But the main thing is, what are the survival rates for someone in her position. CF, Double Lung Transplant and Colon Cancer .. honestly I'm extremely worried, her immune system could not handle any time of chemo .. i dont know what to do.

as you already know, not even doctors are always good at what they do. a doctor could tell your mom she has a year to live, and she goes on for 5. the doctors told my grandfather he had 3 weeks, he's going on 2 1/2 years. there really is no telling but when the time is near you'll know it. one thing i can guarantee is that the harder she fights for her life and the more support she has from her family, the longer she will live
