The likelihood of someone having cancer is not based on a single factor. Having Crohn's Disease is a risk factor for colon cancer and nothing more. It increases your risk by 1.5 to 2 times.

I am a Crohn's patient and a pharmacist. But I like to integrate alternative and holistic approach into conventional treatment therapies. The risk of developing colon cancer increases in cases when Crohn's is not being treated. Also, having active Crohn's disease (flare up stage) that is not controlled increases the risk of developing colon cancer. No reason to worry if you stay proactive and do all that you possibly can to stay healthy. Eat healthy and slowly, exercise, meditate, get enough fresh air and enough vitamin D from sunshine, drink only filtered water with mineral content and take natural supplements for inflammation if possible with your current treatment. You can read more about natural supplements for Crohn's disease: http://www.journey-with-crohns-disease.com/natural-supplements.html Bottom line, the risk of colon cancer only increases when there's a chronic inflammation, if there's no chronic inflammation, the risk should be about the same as an average person without Crohn's disease.
