My father has cancer in his colon, 2 of the 3 lobes in his liver, lymph nodes and pelvis. What are the chances?
He is being treated at the Michael E. Debakey VA hospital in houston. They have not told us yet how aggressive or what treatment options are. What do the chances of battling this and winning look like? Please only doctors or nurses

Noone can tell exactly how his chances are. But i can tell you the surviving-statistics. He is in stadium UICC 4. (because of liver and pelvis metastasis) The survivingrates (Kaplan meier curve) of stadium 4 are the following: One year after diagnosis survive 50%; 2 years 23%; 3 years 17%; 4 years 12%; 5 years 10%. (see the source below) Note that this is nothing more than statistics, in a single case that doesn't mean much... Chemotherapy can slow down the desease, but healing chances are not so high. It also depends on the possibility of surgical treatment. I wish yout the very best, sorry not beeing able to tell you something better...

Stage 4 colon cancer is not curable. The 5 year survival rate is 5%. Although aggressiveness plays a part in how long he will survive, the cancer is already wide spread and the most immediate danger is how much it has damaged his liver. IĆ¢€™m sorry to say it is not likely your father will be in the 5%. How long he survives will depend on how he responds to treatment.
